On first thought, it might not seems very wise to begin a new project such as this with “mistakes” as subject: however, I have come to the conclusion that few experiences in life bring by itself so many possibilities for growth as our mistakes does.
True been told, making mistakes is usually a very unpleasant experience. The idea that mistakes are to be avoided at any cost has become a natural law.
Even when this point of view makes total sense from a biological point of view, the truth is that most people on planet earth are not in constant danger to be devoured by wild animals, yet we keep a very Paleolithic idea of what mistakes represents in our lives.
I have invested a great deal of effort in changing this mindset. We are going to make mistakes anyway, this is inevitable and it is the first step to overcome the instant feeling of guilt that comes with messing up. Of course, we should not make mistakes on purpose (though, there are exceptions) but with the right mindset we can exploit this events and grow a great deal from it.
In other words, let’s stop seeing our mistakes as simply failure and start to recognize that the bigger the mistake, the bigger the opportunity for personal growth in front of us.
Every mess up decision has the power to transform us into a better person, it only takes a change of mind.
